Spring Productions - 'Strange Are The Ways Of Pegasus' and 'Faint Voices'
Rehearsals are well underway for Dungarvan Dramatic Club's spring production 'Strange are the ways of Pegasus' and 'Faint Voices'.
There are 17 people in total travelling to Erie but not all were available for the photograph. Those also travelling are our dedicated Sound Technician Dave Lee who took the photograph, Ned Cullinane our Set Designer and Head of Set Construction, also our Vice-President Aoife Doyle who will be hooking up with the group later as she will be honeymooning with her soon to be husband Mick Flynn.
The play devised by Margaret Dennehy, is a multi media presentation which spans the life of Meath poet Francis Ledwidge. This piece provides a backdrop to the second play "Faint Voices" By John McKennan, which dramatically portrays the doomed relationship between Francis Ledwidge and Ellie Vaughey as well as the impact of his death on the battlefields of World War 1 on those left at home. Both plays contain some very poignant moments and both feature extracts from Ledwidge's poetry.
Incidently, the Waterford-born but Derry-based playwright, Dave Duggan had a play about Ledwidge on tour and performed at The Project Arts temple bar last week. The Club are definitely 'topical'.
The play will be running from Wednesday 24th March to Friday 26th March 2010 at the Townhall Theatre, Dungarvan at 8.30pm. Cast and crew who are travelling will have less than a week to recover before they take their return visit to Erie where they will be performing at the Erie Playhouse which has a similar history to Dungarvan Dramatic Club in that they had to leave their home and take their performances to various venues before finding a place to call 'home'.
Details of the trip will be posted on the Erie Playhouse Theatre website and Dungarvan Dramatic Club will soon be joining the worldwide web at http://www.dungarvandramticclub.ie/! Tickets are now on sale and can be purchased on the Club's ticket booking line 086 324 4175.
As there are a number of people involved in the production the Club are looking for volunteers to help with front of house. If you can help, please contact the above number or speak to members directly.
