Dungarvan Drama Club premieres Days of Our Youth
"Days of Our Youth" by Muiris O’Keeffe is a dramatisation of the life and times of Dungarvan-born George Lennon, who was leader of the Decies Flying Column during the Irish War of Independence. The characters and events portrayed in this piece are based mainly on surviving testimony. The Volunteers are representative of a number of different individuals, or a composite of different individuals and identified by name where based on actual testimony. “Days of our Youth” has been endorsed by George Lennon’s son Ivan, who, the club is delighted to confirm, will be travelling from the USA with family members, to attend the premiere. Given the long association his family has had with the club Muiris feels “honoured to have the play presented for the first time by the ‘Dramat’ and is looking forward to seeing the finished product!” Under the insightful direction of Margaret Dennehy, the escapades and manoeuvres, and the lives of ordinary people of a time gone by will be brought to life on the stage of Dungarvan Town Hall Theatre by a cast of twenty (many of whom are playing multiple roles) from Wednesday 21st to Saturday 24th November 2012. Not to be missed! Booking on 086-3244175.
