Rehearsals for Dungarvan Dramatic Club Spring Production are underway.
The production; Joseph O Connor's 'Red Roses and Petrol' is a darkly comic play.
The family of Enda Doyle gather for his wake as his widow, Moya, anxiously prepares for the funeral the next day.
Her stay at home daughter, Medbh, is by her side to lend a helping hand, as they await the arrival of daughter, Catherine, from America. The question on all their tongues is whether or not, Johnny, the angry black sheep of the family, will make an appearance!
With skeletons left in Enda Doyle's closet and secrets to unfold, it makes for a funny, heart warming, but altogether familiar story that we hope will leave audiences entertained.
This play is to be directed by Fidelma Meaney and the cast are as follows:
Moya: Deirde Collender.
Medbh: Emma Walsh.
Catherine: Orla Glascott.
Johnny: Paul Coffey.
Tom: Stephen Stack.
Young Moya: Orla White.
Young Enda: Shane Collender.
Performance Dates are:
Tues March 29th - Fri April 1st in the Town Hall Theatre.
Tickets will soon be on sale so watch this space.
Best wishes to all the cast and crew!

Autumn 2010 Production Of Arthur Miller's 'The Crucible' A Huge Success
Dungarvan Dramatic Club was delighted and excited with the success of their hugely ambitious autumn production of Arthur Miller's 'The Crucible'. Under the direction of Fidelma Meaney, making her debut as Director, and assistant director Mary Kelly, the play thrilled audiences, with their vision and interpretation of a truly remarkable and beautifully written piece of outstanding literature. The feedback was duly appreciated by all cast and crew.
Sell out performances and standing ovations were heart warming and deserved for all the hard work involved. The cast of nineteen people some never to thread the boards before wowed audiences with their commitment and talent. The Club reached national level and were ecstatic with recommendations from Radio One, as well as on the local level from members of WLRfm and a huge thanks goes to Timmy Ryan and Ian Noctor for all the support. A production this enormous involves a great many people both on and off the stage. The Club would like to extend tremendous thanks to firstly all our sponser's

Autum 2010 Production - The Crucible By Arthur Miller
This Autumn's Production by Dungarvan Drama Club is Arthur Miller's outstanding play The Crucible. It is his seminal play based on the Salem Witch Trials, and regarded as one of the most powerful plays of the 21st century. It is a compelling story of truth on trial, a relentless suspenseful drama of collective evil and personal conscience and at it's centre a vastly moving story of quilt, love and redemption. The play openings in the Reverend Parris home after he discovers his daughter and niece and a group of other girls dancing and conjuring spirits in the woods the night before. The village is out and the girls are about to be accused of witchcraft but the very clever and conniving Abigale Williams uses this situation to her full advantage for her personal ends and so starts accusing people in the village of bewitching her until she can accuse the one person who stands in her way from the man she love's. Hysteria sweeps the whole village and so the witchunt begins. Is there anyone to stop her? Would you die to save your name? The play to be directed by Fidelma Meaney and assist director Mary Kelly has a cast of 20 strong player's with 9 completely new members and others who have not threaded the boards for a long time, thus making this production very exciting for all involved.
